Alessia was introduced to the Tihany name during the 2004 Salone del Mobile in Milan while still a student at Politecnico di Milano. She was inspired by the Tihany exhibition, and in listening to Adam discuss his craftsman-like design philosophy, felt reaffirmed in her decision to pursue design as a career. Following graduation, Ms. Genova interned in Milan before beginning her tenure at Tihany Design, working in Rome for two years before moving to the New York office.
In addition to over 10 years of experience in luxury hospitality design, Ms. Genova brings to every project a truly global perspective and unique creative outlook. Her strength is in concept and presentation development, drawing on her passion for identifying the story behind each design project and bringing the vision to life for clients. Key projects include Bocuse at The Culinary Institute of America, Oro at the Belmond Cipriani in Venice, Bar Boulud Boston and a recently completed private villa in Dubai.
As Studio Director, Ms. Genova oversees the design management within the New York studio and is responsible for ensuring that each project is carefully attended to from initial concept to completion. She serves as mentor to the next generation of young designers, aiming to impart the most important aspects of design: innovation, attention to detail and passion for the process. To quote Bruno Munari, “To complicate is easy, to simplify is difficult.”
