Jeffrey Lazar founded Los Angeles-based JL Furnishings in 1997, to meet the need for domestic manufacturing focused on small quantity, product development, and earth-friendly practices.
In the 20 years since, JLF has become one of the largest domestic furniture manufacturers for hospitality. Rebranded JLF collections in 2015, its sub-brands (JL Furnishings, JLF Outdoor, Middie, Meadow Lighting) offer an expansive collection of indoor and outdoor furniture, and lighting. In 2017, the company stood at 600+ employees, 5 U.S. factories (California / North Carolina), and 2 international partner factories. 95% of its furniture production remains domestic. Mr. Lazar continues to champion environmentalism through lone meadow™ – JLFc’s sustainability lab focused on developing, and advocating for, earth-friendly practices in manufacturing.
An active part of the hospitality industry, Mr. Lazar co-founded the NEWH Green Scholarship Award; and has educated 100s of designers through his industry-leading Foam School CEU. He holds a Presidents and Key Executives (PKE) MBA from Pepperdine University, Master of Fine Arts from Berklee College, and Bachelor of Fine Arts from UCLA. Prior to his career in manufacturing, Mr. Lazar worked as a music artist; producing and writing songs for commercials and film, and finding success as a solo artist.
