A veteran of the industry, Brandman has been in the hotel business for close to thirty years. In 2017, Brandman became the co-owner and CEO of Journal Hotels. Journal Hotels consists of hotels in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Palm Springs, and Chicago. Prior to this Brandman founded, co-owned, and was the CEO of several lifestyle hotels including Thompson Hotels, Commune Hotels, and Sixty Hotels. At one point Brandman’s portfolio consisted of approximately 50 hotels with revenues in excess of $450 million, which operated Thompson, Joie de Vivre, and Commune Hotels. Over the past five years Brandman has sold his interests in those lifestyle companies.
Prior to entering the lifestyle hotel scene in 2000, Brandman spent 16 years with Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts. He managed properties in New York, London, Miami, Chicago, and Hilton Head Island for them. He also headed up InterContinental’s Quality and Standards department for 150 hotels around the world in both London and Atlanta.
Brandman is a graduate of the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University.
